On this occasion, in the presence of the Governor, the Mayor of Soriano nel Cimino, the President of the Festival authorities (organizer of the event), the chairmen of the four districts, and the highest religious authority of the town (the parish priest of the Collegiate Church), imparts the solemn blessing to the Archers and Knights; who the following Sunday will compete for the conquest of the coveted Palio of the districts.<\/p>\n
During the ceremony the four presidents, on behalf of the districts they represent, deliver gifts to the church and light up a votive candle. On this occasion, the Palio is shown for the first time to the public, which will later be delivered to the winner of the competition.<\/p>\n
